What is it like working in the film industry?

Actually it's pretty enjoyable. One of the unique things about the VFX and film industry is that movies get announced months in advance, and huge amounts of capital ride on the movie getting released on time.

In fact, i recently got to learn that traders can even bet on how much movies will gross on release dates.

As such, deadlines are utterly immutable. There really aren't that many industries where deadlines absolutely cannot be moved under any conditions. This really affects how the industry conducts business.

Generally this means the focus is on the shortterm. Yes there is also medium to longterm focus, but the real #1 focus is to just get the movie out on time, everything else is secondary.
